Why Yo-kai Watch Failed to Maintain Popularity. Two to three years after Yo-kai Watch debuted, the crown was already slipped. Sales and general excitement weren't quite what they had been beforehand, and this wasn't helped by the resurgence in popularity that its main rival was experiencing.

I want to start by saying this show is up to Japans standards for children & I also feel it is fine for children 13+ and something everyone can enjoy! Compared to a lot of other cartoons there is basically zero violence.

The Yo-kai Watch franchise will be taking a break from television, but new plans are afoot. Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino tweeted the news on February 24, 2023, saying that while the current Yo-kai Watch anime will be “taking a break”, more is in the works for the franchise as a whole.

Yo-kai Watch Land was a companion app for the Yo-kai Medals that were manufactured by Hasbro. Due to the overall questionable treatment of the franchise's western localization, the application went over two years without any updates before being taken off the App Store on December 31, 2018.

Outside of the US, the first season and the movie are currently streaming on Netflix. Update 2021/05/17: Yo-kai Watch: The Movie was removed from Netflix US on March 3, 2021, and the first season of the anime was removed from Netflix US on April 13, 2021.
