hi All ~ ~

seeking to fill our last room with a healer and dreamer drawn to the building of a Multiracial Sacred Medicine Community Household on Ohlone Land Oakland ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Small artsy room for rent for $950 in Queer and Ally Womxn and Nonbinary Multiracial Sanctuary Home for Healers ~ Lake Merritt ~ ** Bipoc to the front, white folxs and jewish folk devoted to racial justice work considered ** ~ ~

The room is on the third level of the property - the bedroom is a lovely small 10x10 furnished room with a storage space, in a large 1650 sq ft, sunny, beautiful 3 bdrm flat, with a deck, a beautiful backyard, a small shared cabin and a large shared Healing Space.
We have a house member in a downstairs separate apartment as well and two studio art day spaces that get rented out.
The four who live here meet weekly for a healing oriented Circle.
The space supports an intimate living environment with teaming and collaborating and talking through matters together, supporting everyone's voice in the mix.
We support a centering of any ruptures between us to churn the wheel of healing and move toward repair. Knowledge of NVC or a related rooted in feelings is critcal to our thriving together.
The house is best fit for folx extremely oriented toward inner growth.
~ ~
The room has a high slanted ceiling, lots of light, lovely light fixtures.
Rent is all inclusive (partially furnished room, internet, pge, water, garbage, laundry, gardening, storage).
The space suits someone who naturally keeps their space tidy and creative on a daily basis, as the room is the first place of sight as folx enter our lovely upstairs 3 bedroom flat and we have a culture of leaving our doors and curtains open when we’re not home; the home is extremely mindful of the physical environment and the visual field ~ so we welcome someone that desires contributing to this culture and needs this themselves in daily life. All the spaces in the home are held as Temple Space, including our private rooms.
The room is centrally located ~ and we team well together to consider impact of noise. The three of us in the apartment have a history of a high level of consideration of one another regarding informing one another of our schedules and of sharing common space and of sound ~ so if this level of interconnectedness feels appealing, check us out !!
The community works well for folx who like to be in communication and are easily responsive and expressive about needs and desires ~ ~ this includes following text and email threads about house matters.
*** Please note we are a pet free home. *** Please note, there are many stairways to access the property. ***

About the Property:
-The owner lives in this third floor flat with another lovely one, and you would be the third person. The owner is white, the other roommate is Vietnamese/French, our third one in the downstairs apartment is white. The house has a vast history as a multiracial household. Both of our day studio folx are Bipoc.
We who sleep our heads here meet together for a weekly Circle and the house has a healing gatherings weekly that are optional.
The house is oriented toward Expanded State Work (i.e. Ceremonial Medicine Work) ~ our Healing Space is blessedly devoted to this deep sacred work.
~ ~
Our abode is on a lovely street on a hill in Cleveland Heights, close to Trader Joe's, Lakeshore Ave, and beautiful Lake Merritt. The lake is a 5-10 minute walk from the house. Bart is a 25 min walk and buses 10 min away.
The building has been fully and artistically remodeled in recent years. It has classic wedgewood stoves, stained mahogany doors, french casem*nt windows, a clawfoot tub, and lots of detail and character.
*** Please note: the common spaces are chalk full and completely furnished, anything added including any plants needs to be agreed upon with us and you :-))

Our Vision and Intention:
We're continuing to co-create a sanctuary retreat-like atmosphere where sacred practice is in the air, is always considered and is in the center of our lives. The home has been evolving for 10 years and sits on the many learnings from these past years and all the folx who have come before.
We are devoted to maintaining a lovely, welcoming, ***clean, ***neat, creative, sacred inspiring place of being ~ bedroom doors are left open when we’re not home, our rooms are held as part of the Temple Space with clean, neat, orderly ~ if this isn’t already your everyday way, then this is not the place of lovely match !! We team around scent sensitivity as well ~ sage and palo santos are a regular in our abode.
Our desires are to continue living daily life engaged and connected with each other, and also very much in our own lives.
We are committed to working through relational conflicts and challenges, with the knowing that with the right match these conflicts grow us more rooted in connection with one another and in ourselves.
We hold this sacred home as a place to heal ourselves and to grow in what we offer this complex intersectional world and society.

About You:
A wonderful fit for us is someone who:
~ identifies as a queer woman, womxn, or nonbinary identified soul who is spiritually and psychologically minded - a priestess, medicine healer, energy worker or somatic practitioner or some other kind of healer.
~ has done a lot of personal exploration and feels grounded in herself/themselves.
~ interested in exploring matters or race, class, culture, gender, power, privilege and all aspects of intersectionality ~ and values bridging differences and sustaining connection as we navigate through these conversations.
~ someone who is interested in exploring plant medicine healing and learning skills around holding space ~ our Sanctuary is on a path to becoming A Medicine Sanctuary to support collective healing ~ we'd love a kindred co-creator !
~ takes a lot of pride in her/their space, takes good care and enjoys the way art and space and home life mix together.
~ values the process of working through things in community, is familiar with navigating rupture and repair, and moves toward bridging through conflict - i.e. someone that turns towards others when conflicts arise, rather than away, and participates when the natural challenges of community living arise; someone who enjoys tending to the relational field, making sure it feels clear and easeful, and comes forth when feeling troubled around things.
~ tends toward warm and caring and has a relaxed energy; enjoys quieter meditative households.
~ is connected to their own needs and has ease with boundaries around tending to self, other, and the group.
~ is desiring weekly house meetings/gatherings and tends to be an active participant in groups.
~ prefers to live in community and feels they have much to offer and to receive.
~ is clean, neat and organized as an everyday practice, as room doors are often left open when we’re not home with blinds open for sunlight into our abode; we would welcome someone cleaner than us, but not less so :-)
~ familiar with altered states of consciousness who holds an honor for this sacred practice ~ with an especial welcome to someone desiring to begin a Path toward Guidework.
~ feels comfortable around living with the white owner who is in her mid 50’s ~ *** someone able to hold the multiple relationships of "owner/"tenant" and housemates and collaborators and possibly friends arising at different times ~ and someone open around exploring and talking through the power dynamics, racial dynamics, class dynamics. etc.
~ Someone who is interested in the exploration in community around differences between all of us in social location, background, personality, gender, age, etc etc ~ and has ease and interest with these conversations.

About Us ::
~ 39 yr old Vietnamese-French cis womxn (she/her), child of immigrants. I love cooking and eating, you'll find me at the farmers' markets on the weekends and encouraging others to get to know their farmers, where their food came from, and what's in it. I work mostly from home, as the Community Outreach Project Manager for the nonprofit Banyan Tree Collective, as a Practitioner teaching workshops on holistic health and Ayurveda, and Certified Yoga Nidra Facilitator guiding virtual yoga nidra every other Friday. I also work with clients 1:1 for holistic nutrition and Ayurveda. I am navigating many different ways to grow, heal, and explore my true nature. I love live music, being introduced to new hiking trails, and learning about Vedic astrology and a variety of other esoteric modalities.
~ a 55 yo queer femme white gal with working class roots who came to own this property, a psychotherapist for 20 years of working in East Oakland, and with a private practice; also developing a sacred healing body of work in Ceremonial Medicine Work; a dancer, a lover of deep exploratory engagement, a sensitive soul who also needs a fair amount of quiet and personal time, and loves creating beautiful sacred space, and loves stewarding this lovely abode.
~ 40 yr old queer white cis woman who grew up in the Bay, left for 10ish years, and was happy to come back ~ in a pause with my career for the last year, focusing on her emotional wellbeing, spending time with family and friends, and building community. In my time off, i spend a lot of time healing in nature, and especially loving far out in the mountains, in the sun or snow. Professional life is in climate change policy and long-range planning, and hoping to return soon.
~ As well, two daytime Art Garage Studios are occupied by cis male bipoc artists ~ one queer, the other exploring ~ both lovely.
