Swiss Cheese Car
This was a simple design easy to build. My son is 7 years old and this was our first Pinewood Derby. It was a lot of learning on our part. But we made 2nd place among 21 vehicles! Thank you Joe for the step by step instructions!

WE WON OUR PACK PINEWOOD DERBY!
Design was easy to cut and well laid out. We printed out the design and taped to the car. My son was traced the holes to cut out so we could see where to drill the holes or dremel out the divots. He used the dremel to cut most of the diviots. We practiced first on a spare piece of wood. Easy, easy design to build. We spent less time on this car than any other, and have come to conclusion the simpler the design is, the better the car runs! My son won 1st place in the den competition, 3rd place in out Scout's Choice category (other Scouts pick the car they like the best), and we won our pack's derby, by .0066 seconds - unreal! We did include a mouse rider - we made the mouse head out of clay and inserted into a mouse hole in the back of the car. Made a tail from a black piece of wire. We painted the car orange (my son's favorite color) along with using orange BSA wheels.

Awesome Design
Easy to build, our race went great! We have build 10 cars over the years and this was the fastest one ever, made it into the finals for the first time, overall 4th out of 72 cars!

Great car design plans !
This design turned out to be very simple to plan and execute. My son is age 9 and I wanted him to do more work on the Pinewood car this year than prior years. He was able to make the major cut with my guidance and was able to work most of the "holes" with very little of my help. When my son and I applied all the primer, color, and topcoat (I have some finishing background working in the wood cabinetry industry) we had a very slick hi-sheen looking racer that really stood out among the other 35 vehicles ! The plans laid out each step along with working tips - which made this swiss cheese car an absolute joy to build ! I can only hope my son will keep these memories throughout his lifetime. Thank you Joe for creating Pinewood Pro !

Great plans, my son enjoyed building the Swiss Cheese Car. He won 1st place in his Den for speed and 4th place for most creative in the Pack. The tungsten weights and placement were key.
