Maybe the wrong place to ask this question but scouring the net and headfi to read reviews of the Brooklyn Bridge II and cannot find a thing on this forum that reviews it. Really curious how the DAC sounds and if folks are happy with it so far. Any input is appreciated!

There was a review over at Audioscience that wasn't particularly glowing - https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...tek-brooklyn-bridge-ii-streamer-review.52460/

It then caused a bit of a rammy over on the Roon Community forum that also saw the main man at Mytek and the guy who wrote the review at Audioscience go blow to blow over several days.

I did see that less than stellar review and thread. Was hoping it was not reflective of how others felt about the product. Met the guy behind Mytek personally and honestly felt bad to see the fallout from that Audioscience “discussion”.

Is that why no one here is talking about the BB2?!

I don't have an answer to your question, but just want to say this....

Those folks over at Audio Science are real deep divers and tech measurement freaks, which doesn't always align with how well the unit actually sounds. Not everything with the best measuring numbers are great ear performers. It's why I never look to them for any reviews. Just my opinion though.

@Chudalicious I'm very happy owner of original Brooklyn Bridge and use it despite the fact I have Chord Hugo TT2 on the same desk Mytek is installed. The problem with BB2 is that I have no reason to upgrade, especially when filter setting is not fixed. I do not need extra storage space that BB2 provides as I already have different storage solutions. As a single device solution both BB OG and BB2 are very tempting but for existing owners there maybe little reason (like in my case) to upgrade, hence very few people discuss it here. Mytek also never had a strong PR around their products plus their recent problems with HEM and supply chain changes and long development / shipment times aren't helping either. Overall I wish Michal all the best and keep my fingers crossed as I really like their design and ideas. One thing that keeps away from current product line is their new pricing. Original BB had been very competitive when you consider Macintosh MHA150 or Chord TT2 for example and a lot broader BB/BB2 functionality. With current pricing is it not that competitive (while still offering functionality that only very few other manufacturers also provide in similar price range). I have heard Empire at show and I haven't been impressed much. Manhattan is out of production if I understand correctly.

@sygnus21 indeed - at least I haven't been able not only to image but to get the idea how particular audio device is sounding from ASR reviews. I strongly believe in one policy: listen yourself.

If you're not in a position to listen to an amp before getting it, you can use reviews (video, pro, end user) to gage an idea of what an amp may sound like.

The big key though is to know what you're looking for in sound. I chose my headphone amp that way - was looking for something warm and colored, and reviews pointed me towards the Denafrips Artemis headphone amp. When I got it, it turned out to be all I was looking for. This > YouTube review also helped a lot.

Very happy as it suits my Sennheiser HD800S phones perfectly, but I also knew what I was looking for.

Good luck with finding a review of the item you want.

I picked up a Felix Envy and as such, wanted a DAC with a clean, precise and expansive soundstage as I don’t want a warm sound on top of the Envy. I heard the Mojo2 and thought about the Hugo 2 but turned off it does not support ALAC so I can’t use Apple Music with it. Was also thinking it would be nice to have a streamer included so I don’t have to rely on my MacBook chain so it should be “cleaner.”

Agree on the Mytek price point as well. Know it packs a bundle of features but still.. 5k is pricey no matter how you slice it.

Any suggestions on synergy w BB2 and Envy are appreciated (if anyone out there is using) Mytek Brooklyn Thread (8)
