10 Best Keto Recipes (1)

I’m so happy to share the 10 Best Keto Recipes with you! Switching your fuel source from carbs to fat has benefits for just about everyone, and that’s why this diet has been so helpful to me. I started the Keto Diet on June 3, 2014. I remember that date because it changed my life. Eating low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) has helped me live much better with a multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

What is the Keto Diet?

The Ketogenic Diet is the original low-carb diet and is commonly used to treat epilepsy. With this low-carb, high-fat diet, the majority of calories come from fat, while moderate amounts of protein and very low amounts of carbohydrates are consumed. Following a high-fat diet adapts the body to burning fat rather than carbohydrates. Doing so can have tremendous health benefits such as reducing inflammation and much more. Below you will find the top low-carb recipes that are perfect for the Ketogenic Diet.

1. Keto Bread

The first thing people worry about when going on a special diet is giving up bread. That's why I've created this easy, yet amazing Keto Bread recipe for you with only 6 ingredients total. Fans adore this low-carb bread recipe saying, "I love your Keto Bread, it's just absolutely amazing!" If you're looking for something on the sweet side, try my Keto Blueberry Lemon Bread!

2. Low Carb Cornbread

My 5-ingredient Low-Carb Cornbread is a fantastic treat at Thanksgiving, but it's so good we eat it all year round! Warm up a slice, then smother it in melted butter or ghee and you have the perfect low-carb snack. Serve my Low-Carb Cornbread with a side of eggs and greens for breakfast. Fans tell me this sugar-free Cornbread is "amazing…much better and more moist than the ‘real’ thing!"

3. Salt & Pepper Crackers

Going on a low-carb diet doesn't mean you have to lose out on foods with a good crunch. My 4-ingredient are perfect for dipping in low-carb sides such as my quick and easy homemade Guacamole.

You can also try these low-carb crackers with my Dairy-Free Ricotta Dip, one of the first nut cheese recipes to be created, I shared it here on the blog in 2009!

4. Roasted Almonds

By now y'all know that I love almonds. I wrote the first grain-free cookbook from a major publisher in 2008, called The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook. So I thought it only appropriate that I share one of my simplest low-carb almond recipes here, and it's become a hit recipe. This easy recipe is so popular that over 100,00 people used it in 2017 alone! Why roast your own almonds? First, it's far less expensive than buying them pre-roasted. Second, the taste is out of this world! Almonds are the perfect low-carb snack and in this post called, How to Roast Almonds I teach you how to prepare them to perfection. If you're looking for something a bit lighter, try my spectacular 5-ingredient Barbecue Kale Chips recipe that uses one of Primal Palate's incredible organic seasonings.

5. Paleo Crepes

This exclusive low-carb crepes recipe first appeared in my New York Times best selling cookbook, Paleo Cooking from Elana’s Pantry. I'm thrilled that my publisher was kind enough to allow me to share it with you on the blog! Made with only 5 ingredients total, we like to fill these Paleo Crepes with a bit of Cranberry Cherry Sauce and a ton of Homemade Whipped Cream! Or you can fill the crepes with fresh strawberries and smother them in my Dairy-Free Whipped Cream.

6. Paleo Bagels

My fan favorite Paleo Bagels recipe is another exclusive from my latest book that I share here on the blog with you! If you're counting macros you're in luck because I provide them for all of the recipes in the book in this easy to download Nutrition Information PDF! Fans tell me this Paleo Bagels recipe is "genius" and "awesome" and love how easy it is to make with only 8 ingredients total!

7. Shepherd’s Pie

My Paleo Shepherd's Pie is a fantastic low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) dinner made of ground beef and bacon smothered in mashed cauliflower. This Whole30 approved one-pot meal will keep you warm and cozy during winter, but it's so incredible we make it all year round. Another wonderful low-carb dinner that you won't want to miss out on is my Mac and Cheese Skillet Casserole made with spaghetti squash, ground beef, and parmesan cheese. I have a treasure trove of Keto Dinner Recipes that you'll love!

8. Zucchini Noodles

Zucchini Noodles are the perfect low-carb vehicle to have in your keto diet. Serve them with my world famous Meatballs recipe that fans say is "perfect in every way," or my low-carb Chicken Noodle Soup!

Learn how to make Zucchini Noodles and use this healthy low-carb pasta in all kinds of fun keto dishes.

9. Keto Pumpkin Pie

Did you know that my dairy-free, egg-free Vegan Pumpkin Pie recipe is totally keto? This easy low-carb pie filling recipe is perfect in my Low-Carb Almond Flour Pie Crust. Fans say my Low-Carb Almond Flour Pie Crust is the best low-carb pie crust recipe they've ever had. Made with 4 ingredients it's incredibly popular during the holidays. Many of you are so in love with it that you have let me know that it's a staple in your kitchens!

10. Keto Brownies

My Low-Carb Keto Brownies are perfect if you're in the mood for a chocolate keto treat! And who isn't? This easy recipe contains 8 ingredients total and can be whipped up quite quickly. If you're looking for an even easier low-carb chocolate fix, you'll love my 2-Ingredient Chocolate Puddingrecipe. To add more fiber into your diet try my Chocolate Chia Pudding made with only 6 ingredients total.

The Easiest Keto Recipes Ever

These recipes are so simple that the easiest one has 2 ingredients, while the most challenging has only 9 ingredients total. I have a silly question though! Why do magazines and recipe creators say that a dish contains only 4 ingredients when it contains 7? Do salt, pepper, and olive oil not count as ingredients? In my recipes they do.

I am new to your website and recipes. Can you tell me a substitute for “egg white protein powder” as I cannot find it in our small Saskatchewan city? Looking forward to trying your recipes.

Diane, I haven’t tried making my recipes without egg white protein powder when called for so not sure what to substitute for that. Feel free to experiment, or if you click the green text in the ingredients portion of the recipe that say “egg white protein powder” you can order it online, that’s what I do :-)

Elana are you really feeling better eating keto? I have celiac and was grain free for years. Then did keto/primal for 2 years and initially I felt better, lost weight, re-set my body. But then I started feeling like all the animal protein was slowing my body down and I was becoming too acidic? I missed fruits and starchy veggies. I was tired of watching my carbs so much, especially with real unprocessed food. So now I’m in the midst of trying to figure out what will work for my body. It seems to me that most cultures in the Blue Zone are more plant based and eat more of a variety of foods. Where are you in your journey?

Betty, same here. I “cheat” on my keto diet with some green juices and extra salads and feel really good that way. I don’t eat fruit often (other than berries very infrequently) and I don’t eat starchy veggies :-)
